Amber Valley Wine Club Event

England's Finest Sparkling Wines Evening

Come and try some of the finest English sparkling wines on the planet - including some incredibly rare examples you'll probably never get to try again in this exclusive event.
An Amber Valley Vineyards wine club event - Friday 31st July 2020 - 6.30pm

We're pleased to put this back on after having to postpone it back in April.
An informal yet special evening for ticket holders only to enjoy some very special wines and a great exclusive dégustation experience!  Each of our special wine club tasting events aims to be a little bit serious, after all we'll be drinking some very special wines, but not too serious, so there is always an element of fun and we aim match up the wine with some tasty light canapés and cheeses.
This extra special wine tasting evening will cost £50 per person, consisting of six flights of wine and will be strictly limited to 12 people. There will be simple but tasty canapés and cheeses, which are included in the price.

This exclusive and prestige event is planned for Friday 31st July at 6.30pm at our vineyard and cellar door in Wessington, the nearest postcode is DE55 6DL.  There is plenty of parking and our beautiful vineyard overlooks the beautiful Amber Valley and, weather permitting, we'll set up to taste these very fine wines on the very edge of the vineyard for maximum immersion into these wines!

On this very special evening we are tasting some of the finest, and some of the rarest, sparkling wines England has ever produced - certainly this will be the most exceptional and auspicious English wine event ever held in Derbyshire and probably the East Midlands.  This will be a truly rare experience and without doubt these wines represent the very best of English sparkling wines. This is also a uniquely affordable way to taste such rare and expensive wines and to share the experience with others.

Our line-up:

Nyetimber 1086 Prestige Cuvée 2009
Retailing at £150 a bottle this very special cuvée is only made in exceptional vintages from particular parcels. The 2009 is a rare wine now, residing mainly in collections.

Nyetimber Cuvée Cherié Demi Sec
A super fine Demi Sec retailing at £35 a bottle - an exceptional sweeter sparkling that is excellent almost beyond description.

Hattingley Valley King's Cuvée Prestige 2013
Another exceptional cuvée that retails at about £90 a bottle - a rarity as this vintage has been either quaffed or curated.

Coates & Seely 'La Perfide' Rose 2009
A sparkling rose wine of exceptional character, richness and finesse - I had the rare privilege of tasting what was thought to be one of the last bottles left of this wine back in the summer with Coates and Seely - I remembered I had a half-case of this left at home! Aged on its lees for 5 years before disgorging in 2016, it was described by Jamie Goode as one of the UK's best sparkling wines. It retails for around £70 a bottle - if you can find it!

Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2004
I tasted this way back in 2014 and it was a big bold, lemony fizz that packed in apples and citrus acidity.  I reckoned then that this could stand a few more years in the bottle and still be an awesome wine.  The last bottle will be cracked open for this auspicious event.  Again, another rarity I couldn't ascribe a value to.

Chapel Down Pinot Reserve 2004
An exceptional sparkling wine that has aged beautifully and won our Judgement of Wessington blind tasting event back in 2018. Beating an exceptional lineup of English and Champagne stars to come out on top by a good head and shoulders over the others. I can't put a retail value on this because it's so rare there simply isn't any left for sale anymore!  Indeed this has to be one of the last bottles in existence I reckon.
